Everything you Need to Know about Warming Cabinets

As an integral part to any medical environment, there are a variety of different warming cabinets that each perform a specific purpose. If you are confused about which warming cabinet would best suit your requirements based on your medical needs, then our team at QED Scientific are on hand to give you the benefit of their expertise.

Let’s take a look at the different warming cabinets available at QED, to see if we can find the best one for you.

FW-Eco Fluid Warming Cabinets

Ideal for use within a wide range of areas in the hospital particularly theatres or maternity settings, the FW W-Eco Fluid Warming Cabinet – otherwise known as a solution warmer or a heated lotion cabinet – warms bottles and bags of saline and other fluids, ready to be used for patients at a moment’s notice.

Features and benefits

There are a number of different features and benefits of our FW-Eco Fluid Warming Cabinets, including:

·         Fluid is stored at an appropriate temperature to avoid discomfort or chilling for the patient

·         Temperatures up to 60°C – factory set at 37°C – controlled by a PID digital microprocessor for accuracy with an automatic overheat safety cut-out and secondary independent overheat safety fail-safe – the unit can be set to meet your specific clinical requirements

·         15 standard sizes available, with capacities ranging from 6 half-litre bottles up to 200 1-litre bottles or equivalent (or 1 to 90 1-litre bags, and 1 to 20 5-litre bags, in convenient storage baskets)

·         Quiet internal fan ensuring optimum temperature control with fast recovery after door opening

·         Medical grade stainless steel interior with powder painted exterior

·         Smaller models can be wall-mounted

·         Accessories include baskets, door locks, alarms and stands

In addition, these warming cabinets can be custom-built to your specifications if required, and we can also create a space-saving unit by combining this cabinet with our blanket warming cabinet.

Blanket Warming Cabinets

Our BW-Eco models are key when it comes to theatre recovery and within a fast-paced Accident & Emergency unit. Used to warm blankets for patients who have just come out of theatre or who are suffering from hypothermia or shock, QED’s blanket warming cabinets have a number of advantages:

·         There are 11 standard sizes available with capacities ranging from four to approximately 50 cotton blankets in baskets

·         Temperatures of up to 80°C with an automatic setting of the overheat safety cut-out and secondary independent overheat safety fail-safe protection

·         Custom built with combination cabinets available

The importance of blanket warming cabinets in medical settings is not to be taken lightly – low temperatures within procedure rooms, including theatres, and long wait times experienced by patients can all lead to anxiety on the body.

A warmed blanket taken from a warming cabinet can help to keep a patient’s body at the correct core temperature, reducing the risks posed by hypothermia, which may result in a longer hospital stay and increased hospital costs.

Combi Warming Cabinets

As we touched on above, here at QED Scientific, we have combi warming cabinets that can house both blankets and fluids together, for ease of access.

Customised to your specific needs, we can manufacture smaller models, which also come with stands or wheels, with door locks to prevent unauthorised access. As with their larger counterparts, they are temperature-controlled with the usual overheat safety cut-outs, fans and accessories.

MW-Eco Warming Cabinets for Contrast Media

Perfect for warming bottles of contrast media, our QED MW-Eco models are specifically designed for contrast media in CT scanner suites, where contrast media is to be injected into patients just seconds before going into the scanner, to make pictures a lot clearer.

Features

When looking for your next contrast media warmers, there are a number of benefits to our MW-Eco range:

·         7 standard sizes with capacities ranging from 10 to 140 bottles of media

·         Temperatures up to 40°C, factory set to 37°C, with automatic setting of the overheat safety cut-out and secondary independent overheat safety fail-safe protection – the units can be easily set to temperatures to meet your clinical needs

·         Quiet internal fan ensuring optimum temperature control with fast recovery after door opening

·         Smaller models can be wall-mounted

All models are manufactured in the UK and have a 5-year warranty and CE-certified
