The Importance of Controlled Room Temperature Cabinets

Controlled Room Temperature (CRT) cabinets are specifically designed for medical facilities and residential care homes – and for use with clinical trials and storage of samples – requiring precise temperature management at room temperature, between 15°C and 25°C.

Responsible for eliminating fluctuations in room temperature due to excessive heat or faulty air conditioning, a temperature-controlled cabinet – also known as an ambient cabinet or temperature-controlled medication storage – ensures medications are stored in line with manufacturers’ storage guidance.

Medicines, lotions, ointments and other medications usually labelled as ‘store below 25°C’, should be stored under CRT conditions to ensure efficacy of the products is maintained – as defined by The World Health Organisation. To eliminate medical waste due to incorrect storage and reduced shelf-life, either a floor or bench CRT cabinet can be used – with some larger models being fitted with an inner controlled drugs cabinet (CDC).

Here at QED Scientific, we understand the importance the role a temperature-controlled cabinet plays in today’s healthcare facilities and, as such, have a range of award-winning CRT cabinets that safely store medicines at room temperature – even in hot summer temperatures or during cold winters.
