Laboratory Incubators

Laboratory incubators provide a contaminant-free environment, allowing for the laboratory staff to accurately control the temperature range of microbiological and general purpose uses.

With built-in heating and cooling elements, alongside a PID digital controller, research staff can accurately control regulated conditions like temperature,

Depending on the type chosen, lab incubators could also be referred to as:

  • Forced air incubators

  • Cooled incubators

  • Chilled incubators

  • Conditioning cabinets

What types of research require a laboratory incubator?

As a heated and insulated box, a lab incubator is a vital piece of laboratory equipment for many types of research, including but not limited to:

  • Testing antibodies

  • Researching bacteria

  • Storing chemicals

  • Incubating samples for microbiological exams

  • Crystallisation studies

  • Growing microbiological cultures

  • Analysing thermal resistance of samples subjected to higher temperatures, including pigments and lacquers

  • Cultivating thermophilic bacteria

  • De-naturalising tests for the food industry

  • Microbiological determinations

  • Pharmaceutical stability testing

At QED Scientific, we offer both LMS and QED Scientific laboratory incubators, which provide accurate and stable temperature conditions.

Features and benefits of QED Scientific lab incubators

A QED laboratory incubator offers the perfect solution to heated-only incubation studies of multiple chemical, microbiological, and pharmaceutical elements. Features and benefits include:

  • A large range of sizes, with capacities from 30 litres to 1,250 litres Larger models to order.

  • Stringent temperature uniformity - models up to 600 litres have a typical temperature uniformity of +/-0.5˚C, while larger models have a temperature uniformity of +/-1˚C or better

  • Stable temperature control with overheat safety protection thermoststs

  • Some models have natural convection and all models canhave forced air convection

  • Electronic control provides accurate and uniform temperature

All laboratory incubators are constructed from painted sheet steel with a plastic, steel or stainless-steel interior, which are easy to clean and maintain. They also have solid or glazed outer doors, plus optional interior doors with tempered glass viewing windows to protect temperature stability.

Optional accessories for laboratory incubators

We also have a few optional accessories that you may decide to include when purchasing a laboratory incubator from QED Scientific, including:

·          Lockable wheel kit

·          Additional shelves

·          Internal/external pass-through holes

Frequently Asked Questions

Will a laboratory incubator fit into my laboratory?

All lab incubators from QED Scientific come in various capacities, allowing you to choose the perfect model to fit your particular parameters.

This includes a selection of 21 under-bench and freestanding models, with a capacity range of 52-763L or more.

For more model-specific information, browse our laboratory incubator brochure.

Alternatively, for personalised recommendations on suitable laboratory incubators, why not contact our friendly, knowledgeable team - you can call or email us and we’ll get back to you as soon as we can to help find the model right for you. We can economically manufacture incubators to your size and specification.

Are laboratory incubators easy to clean?

In a laboratory, cleanliness is critical, and contamination can lead to costly mistakes that set projects back months if mishandled.

If you are looking for an easy-to-clean model, the QED Scientific laboratory incubators are an excellent choice.

Constructed internally from stainless steel and externally from powder-painted sheet steel, they are easy to clean with a variety of cleaning agents, including:

  • Isopropyl (rubbing) alcohol

  • Non-abrasive polishes

  • Bleach-free disinfectants

  • Sodium bicarbonate

  • Disinfectant wipes

Without strenuous scrubbing or the loss of shine!

I need a laboratory incubator with adjustable shelving – can QED Scientific help?

With a range of possible uses, providers may need laboratory incubators to be flexible to use – with adjustable shelving. We can also manufacture shelving to hold heavy items or supply baskets of several designs.

This allows for larger samples to be easily accommodated and for quick layout changes without the need to keep doors open for longer than necessary and affect internal temperatures.

QED Scientific now has a range of standard laboratory incubators, all of which include adjustable shelving and a range of capacities from 30-575 litres, with typical temperature stability of +/- 0.75°C. When fitted with a digital controller the typical stability is better than +/- 0.5°C.

Is a climate chamber the same as a laboratory incubator?

Generally, no. While a climate chamber and laboratory incubator both restrict conditions to perform essential roles in research and testing, they are used in different applications and industries.

For this reason, it isn't necessarily possible to swap one for the other, so give us a call and ask.

An environmental chamber can often also include ambient temperature ranges and control light as well as gas control.
